The civil association Burrolandia Mexico informed on Monday, February 17, that several of its animals were stolen after a hole was opened in the sanctuary facilities. In a video posted on social networks, it was pointed out that three little donkeys, Felipe, Julieta, and Canelita, had been taken. Currently, the association invites the community to visit the place as part of protection tourism, where ticket payments contribute to the care of the animals.
Burrolandia Mexico is dedicated to giving a dignified life to the Mexican donkey, a species endangered and used as a pack animal, just like horses and mules. Organizations like Cuacolandia and Seres Libres are responsible for rescuing these animals from heavy labor and bringing them to sanctuaries. However, they were surprised by the theft of the animals from the sanctuary.
In the shared video, traces of blood were evident in the area where the animals were forcibly taken. The staff of Burrolandia expressed their dismay and concern for the welfare of the stolen donkeys, requesting the intervention of local authorities to clarify the case and ensure the protection of the animals.
The Burrolandia Mexico project started in 2006, housing approximately 90 rescued Mexican donkeys in various states, such as the State of Mexico and Mexico City. The association has sought the support of state authorities and the community to address the theft of the animals and ensure their safety and well-being.
